Verse – Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.
Reflection – Proverbs 29:2 – Good Leadership
When righteousness thrives, the nations will rejoice but if wickedness is allowed to take dominion, then the people will be in sadness. This text talks about the leadership that we allow into our societies.
It is very necessary to thoroughly screen the people we accept to be our leaders. We must make sure that they are selfless, good folks who will look out for others before they look out for themselves.
Christ lived his life in a way that sought after the goodness and redemption of man. His whole life was dedicated to sacrificing himself so that we would be saved from destruction. Even though he knew no sin, he accepted to be treated like a sinner and disgraced so that the prophecy about him would be fulfilled.
Leaders today are in no way similar to Christ our great leader. Leaders today only want what is best for their own homes. They do not care who they have to destroy to get their hands on what they want. When people like this lead, the masses will be in distress.
Before you vote for a person to be a leader in your society, your country, club or congregation, make sure you find out all there is to know about them. Find out if they have good hearts. Know that they pursue righteousness all the time no matter what.
Do not vote for people who don’t mind if they sin against God to get what they want. Bad leaders corrupt nations and bring them to destruction. Their people are laid to waste and nothing good comes out of their generation.
Good leaders foster peace among their people. God’s favor is upon them and he protects them from the plans of evil people. Godly leaders bring blessings upon their people and their people rejoice in God’s favor always.
Open our eyes Oh Lord and let us choose righteous leaders who will not bring curses and destruction upon us.
Please help us with a discerning heart
Let us not look at outward appearances
Reveal any hidden trait that may destroy us later
Help us choose our leaders wisely
Let us choose the righteous
Grant us a noble, wise, and good leader
Give us someone who will secure our future in you and let our choices be a blessing and not a curse to us and our generations.
