Reflection – Jeremiah 10:2- Don’t Follow The Crowd

When God sent the angel of death to visit the Egyptians, He told Moses to mark the doors of the Israelites so that the angel of death would not enter their homes. God speaks to His people to calm them so they do not tremble when He is visiting His wrath on the wicked.

This text is teaching us the same thing. The Lord is admonishing us not to be afraid of the signs in the heavens. Do not be afraid when the Lord is working His wonders and moving in his glory. He has marked those that belong to Him so that no harm will come to them.

He also tells his people not to follow the ways of evil. Do not be conformed to the ways of the world just because it sounds easier and more glamorous. Those who do not bear the mark of the Lord will be destroyed when the day of reckoning comes. It only takes one day for the wicked to be punished so do not wander into the affairs of the wicked and be enticed by them because it cannot stand the wrath of the Lord.

As Christians, we must live diligently and do things that are pleasing to the Lord. His ways are not the ways of man. He works in ways we do not understand. When the wicked take pleasure in hurting people do not do the same.
