Reflection – 1 Corinthians 15:47-49 – We Are Heavenly People

Verse – 1 Corinthians 15:47-49

Verse – 1 Corinthians 15:47-49

The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.

Reflection – 1 Corinthians 15:47-49 – We Are Heavenly People

We are descendants of Adam, the first man. God’s earthly creation was beautiful and his plan was to live amongst them and have a wonderful everlasting life. The earthly man was however corrupted and the distance between them and God widened. Death was therefore born.

God was not going to do the same thing again, so this time, he made the heavenly man be exactly like him, spirit. While the first man was made in his image, the second man was made of his spirit and was incorruptible. This is the true family of God.

We, therefore, strive to be one with the heavenly man who was cast in the flesh of Jesus Christ, born of Mary so he could fulfill the prophecy of Isaiah by dying to save all mankind.

For this reason, all who believe in him will never die but live a life that is everlasting just as God intended in the beginning. Let us therefore now live our lives as God intended. Let us live as one in love and incorruptible just as Christ taught us. Let us live as Christ lived on earth. So we can follow in his steps and not fall into the hands of the devil like the first man did.
