Tests naturally bring nerves. It’s completely normal to feel anxious when your progress seems to hinge on a single moment. No matter how much you study, your mindset on the day of the exam is just as important. Being mentally and spiritually ready can make all the difference.
In Scripture, the Israelites often faced battles they weren’t naturally equipped for. Their enemies had more soldiers, better weapons, and stronger strategies. But what the Israelites did have was God. Time and again, when they listened to His voice and followed His instructions, they won, regardless of the odds against them.
“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”
Deuteronomy 20:4
Similarly, when David prepared to face Goliath, King Saul gave him heavy armour to wear, but it didn’t fit. David couldn’t walk, let alone fight in it. Instead, he trusted in the Lord and used the tools already in his hand, a sling and five stones.
It wasn’t the weapon that made the difference, but God’s favour on David (1 Samuel 17:38–58). You may feel small or underprepared, but God can use what’s already in your hand to help you succeed.
If you’re preparing for the SATs or any big exam, know that success doesn’t come by your strength alone. Go into it with the name and power of God, and you will surely overcome.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:13
Equipped to Succeed
SATs are an important milestone that can shape your future. But take heart, God has already given you everything you need: wisdom, strength, intelligence, diligence, boldness, perseverance, and favour. These are the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and they are part of your spiritual armour.
When you apply these gifts to your studies, you’re already doing your part. Prayer then takes care of what is beyond your control. It unlocks the spiritual blessings God has promised, breaks barriers, and allows His Word to come to life in your situation.
As you prepare, ask the Lord to remove any distractions, laziness, or fear that might hold you back. You are already blessed with victory, walk into your test knowing that God is with you, and success is yours through Him.
