We are all one in Christ and Christ is the head of the church. This means that all Christians have an obligation to help one another in times of distress or misfortune.
We must not look away when we encounter anyone in need. This means that we do not only have to help needy widows and widowers who are in Christ but rather anyone we encounter who needs help.
In your day-to-day activities, you will find widows and widowers whose lives have taken bad turns as a result of the spouses they have lost. Some are not just financially weakened but have been socially, mentally, and psychologically destabilized because of the situation they now find themselves in.
As Christians, we must commit every effort to help these people through these difficult times. Helping them will not only get them through a bitter period in their lives but also cause God to bless them.
Doing for others is the same as doing for God. When you do something nice for the needy, you are allowing yourself to be used by God to answer someone’s prayer for help. You are the help that God has sent to that person when they cried, called on, or prayed to him. Doing this makes you a very important instrument in His ministry.
Acknowledge the pain but seek healing
Dear widow/widower, it is crucial to recognize that it’s normal to experience a wide range of emotions such as sadness, anger, guilt, and confusion. In prayer, pour out your heart, expressing these emotions openly to God, who promises to be our refuge and strength during times of trouble. Seek solace in the knowledge that grieving is a process, and allow yourself grace and time to heal.

Needy widows and widowers need our love. Their worlds can suddenly become unbearable. As Christians, we must draw such people to us to make them know and understand that they are not alone. This is what Christ came to do for us. He reconciled the lost and dejected unto himself and gave them a purpose to live.
Think of yourself as the representative of Christ on this earth. This is the mission of every Christian. Widows and widowers can sometimes be very miserable. It is our duty to make sure that these tragic incidents do not separate them from God but rather bring them closer to Him. “If any woman who is a believer has widows in her care, she should continue to help them and not let the church be burdened with them so that the church can help those widows who are really in need. 1 Timothy 5:16
