Verse – Isaiah 6:5-7
Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty. Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.
Reflection – Isaiah 6:5-7 – It doesn’t Matter
The moment Isaiah sets eyes on God, he is immediately overwhelmed by guilt. Not because he feels like seeing the Lord is wrong but because he feels unworthy. His utterances and that of the people he lives with have been unclean so he does not feel worthy of the presence of God until the angel assures him that his sins have been taken away.
There are times we remember something we did in the past and immediately feel like God’s love is not for us. We feel like pigs in dirt and are not worthy of even being close to God.
No matter what you have done in the past, God wants to assure you that as long as you accept Christ you are worthy of his presence.
Isaiah was so conflicted and judged by his own shortcomings that he cursed himself for having laid eyes on God’s glorious face. So when you feel dirty and judged within you just remember that he has atoned for your sins and you can stand blameless in his presence.
