Verse – Psalm 139:11-13
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Reflection – Psalm 139:11-13 – Our Darkness Becomes Light
David’s songs were words reflecting things that happened to him. He sang the wonders of God in his own life. David found great favor in the eyes of God. He experienced the goodness of God at a very close and personal level.
He wasn’t singing about things he had heard from other people’s experiences but he was testifying about his own personal encounters with God.
In this particular testimony, he relays God as being Light. When he thought that he was entering into a very difficult situation, God made it easy for him. When he felt that his enemies who he trusted would betray him to his destruction, God did not see it that way. God shone a light on him no matter where he walked in life.
God is Light and whoever has him will be light also. Imagine being plotted against by the people you trust the most. There are times when you don’t even know your enemies from your friends. The light of God in you will save you from this destruction and he will turn all the darkness in your life into the light without you even realizing it.
That is what the light of God does for us. Where others see darkness before them, you will see clearly because of God. When things are getting harder and harder for other people, you will be getting things easier each day because of the Light that is God.
The Lord is my light through the darkness. When my path suddenly turns into darkness, God immediately shines his light on me.
Thank you for being my light
Thank you for shining your light on my life
Thank you for turning my darkness into light
I will conquer all I survey
I will fear no evil because your light restores my soul
Break all darkness in my family
and let your eternal light rest on us forever
