Verse – Matthew 11:21
Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. ”
Reflection – Matthew 11:21 – Take Heed
He warned them that their punishment would be severe because they had heard the news of salvation and redemption and had remained in sin. The knowledge of sin is sin. But to know sin and still commit it is fatal for a soul.
When a child touches hot food, they do it because they do not know that it will burn them. However, when a parent warns that child of the dangers of the hot food and the child still touches it, that becomes a sin for the child and nobody will have any sympathy for that child.
Some are begging to hear the teachings of Christ and his miracles so that they can free themselves from the shackles of sin and the bondages of this world. We those who have been lucky enough to receive the goodness and mercies of Christ must spread them to those who haven’t received it yet.
We must also not take what we hear for granted. We must never return to the sins that once condemned our souls because God’s punishment will be greater for us than for those who never had such privileges.
