We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:5
There are times when you feel like you simply cannot go any further. It could be in the middle of a nasty divorce, in the middle of a painful and relentless battle with a disease, being fired from a job you loved, finding yourself in prison, losing all of your fortunes, losing a very important person or just feeling as if your life isn’t worth anything.
Whenever you feel like that, you need to reset your life. You need a fresh start or a new beginning. A reset is used to put things back into factory settings. Your birth, death, and resurrection in Christ are signified by your acceptance of him and your baptism into his grace and salvation.
Life will throw difficult circumstances your way that may cause you to forget your portion and inheritance in Christ. Do not forget that he has given you the strength to step on any evil that the world has in store for you.
When times get hard and you feel unable to lift yourself up and proceed, you need a refresher course on all the blessings available to you in Christ. God is always ready for you to come to him no matter what has occurred in the past. Never should you feel unworthy of his grace and love but always look to him for guidance and direction at any difficult point in your life.
I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.
Joel 2:25
God has the power to restore anything you have lost. Remember that he is the creator of the universe and everything in it. This means that he can create things out of nothing for you and he doesn’t need any remnant of used parts in your past to do it.
This also means that it doesn’t matter what you have lost fairly or unfairly he can always replace it for you with something even better than you had before. Do not look back or be discouraged by the number of things you lost in the past but be encouraged by the size of the Lord you serve.
Your breath of life means that God still has a purpose for your life. The last chapter may have ended badly but it doesn’t mean it’s the end of your book. It rather means that it’s time to begin a new chapter. Let God be the start of your new chapter. Look forward to what is to come from the Lord. Prepare yourself for his endless mercies and blessings and let your heart be filled with joy in abundance.
6 steps to reset your life
Find perspective
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Colossians 3:2
Put things in perspective. As a kingdom child, your happiness must come from the things of the Lord and the Spirit. Feeding on God’s words of reassurance will bring peace and joy to your spirit and help you look forward to what is to come.
It will also help you to realize that your most important possession in the Lord is your soul and as long as you haven’t lost that, you haven’t lost anything yet. God’s words are uplifting and greatly motivating. They will help you remember who you are in the first place so that you do not listen to how the world describes you but rather how God sees you.
People may ridicule you because of what you once had and have lost but in the Lord, you haven’t lost anything as long as you still have the Holy Spirit, your soul and your life in Him.
‘Do not’ look back
But my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
Hebrews 10:38-39
You must preserve your soul and not lose your faith through the struggles and tears of the past. Those who succeed do not dwell on their past successes or failures. They strive to do better and achieve better than they have in the past because their faith and life allow them to do so.
Every second of your life is an opportunity to do better than you did in the past. God continues to give you life because he has a purpose for your future and you must not let your past get in the way of that future. Find new goals and strive to achieve them all the while listening only to God’s voice.
Renew your mind & spirit
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2.
The pattern of this world may be comfortable and easy to conform to but the Lord warns us not to follow the world. The world will tell you to hate your enemies and only love your friends but God does not put good things only in the people you like. God made everyone and blesses all as he sees fit because he is the Almighty Father.
According to the scripture, the only way to truly ascertain God’s will and know the perfect way to move forward is to listen to and conform to his word. Do not make decision based on your own evaluation of what is good or bad but rather what God says is the right thing to do.
Set your life to proceed in this fashion. Be obedient to all commandments of the Lord and not just the ones that are easy to do. Let your mind and spirit be renewed through his word and be admonished by his promises to you.

Live your new life
And put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

A new life must be recognizable to everyone. New life must bear new fruits. If you were depressed and sad in the past you must be cheerful and bright in the present. Let your steps be straighter and your words be full of praise. Let your speech be positive and your ways be fruitful.
Do not find laughter in evil but let your feet be quick to do good things. Bless others with your presence and do not repay evil with evil. Be gentle and understanding and let others look to you and give glory to God. Do not let the old habits be seen in you and let your newness be evident in all you do.
