The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23
The start of a new month signifies a new beginning in every aspect of your life. A new month should symbolically relate to a butterfly transformed out of a caterpillar, a snake shedding off old skin, and a tree growing new leaves.
It is a point to leave all the vileness and toxicity of the old month behind. It is a point where you focus on what is ahead. In a new month, you must learn from the mistakes you made in the last month and use that knowledge to overcome challenges in the new one.
Each new month presents a chance to grow and become more resilient to the challenges you face in life. However, it is important to remember that the love of God is renewed every day and he is always faithful to you in all your endeavors. View a new month as you would start a new building.
The end you will have will depend on the kind of planning you will do in the beginning. Just like putting up a new building, it involves transferring a picture of a building into reality. To be able to do that successfully you need proper planning and the best expertise.
Most importantly, if the Lord doesn’t oversee your project you will labor in vain (Psalm 127:1). Similarly, how successful your month will be will depend on how you start it. As a Christian, you must always begin and end with the Lord.
“Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”.
Ephesians 4:22–24
The things that normally stop you from beginning a month right are the fears and failures of the past. There are times when you feel like nothing is going to change for you because no matter how much you tried previously, it didn’t matter.
The verse teaches us to forget everything that happens in the past and step into a new self. A new self isn’t familiar with the failures of the past but rather it looks forward and strives to achieve new things. The verse tells you to renew your spirit and your mind.
This new self should be in the likeness of the Lord. This means that you should see things differently and through the eyes of your maker. God is all-knowing and all-powerful. He is the beginning and the end. Taking on his likeness means going through the month knowing that the righteousness and holiness of the Lord will see you through the month no matter the circumstances you face.
A new self and a new mind do not succumb to the perils of old. A new month must signify a new strength and growth that is able to withstand old and new challenges. Only then can you be sure that you are ready to put your planning into reality.
Your renewed mind and spirit will drive you to achieve things you never even envisaged. God’s gifts for you are endless and unimaginable. To be able to access those gifts you must be renewed in mind and walk in the likeness of God’s holiness and righteousness and that’s the only way you can receive the Lord’s gifts in store for you.
6 steps to start the month right
Start With God
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33.
This verse is used very often and shouldn’t be forgotten by any Christian. No matter what your plans are for the month or for your future remember that your mission here on earth is to do the will of the one who sent you.
You must always make sure that you use every endeavor and strength you have to bring yourself and everyone else closer to God. He must be there at the start and end of anything you plan to do. Pray to him for guidance and protection through all you do.
Let him know of your plans, ask him to renew your mind and spirit, and tell him to give you the courage to complete all your plans and never give up. When God knows that your every action is focused on pleasing him he will add all the gifts and niceties of this earth unto you. He will bless you and order your steps into greatness.

Good planning
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
Luke 14:28-30
Picture your endpoint and plan toward it. Just as a builder draws their plans of a beautiful building down to every detail before they start it, you must also plan your month the same way. The budget for your new building must cover the materials needed for the complete structure, the needs of all the builders who will be working on said structure, and also the unforeseen circumstances that may derail your progress in building your house.
As a Christian, plan your month according to your strength. Let your faith in God carry you through the month by praying for him to take care of what is beyond your control. What you must never do is plan to give up in the middle. Make sure to plan to reach and celebrate every milestone you reach.
Spiritual Expertise and Tools
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105.
To successfully complete your building in time, you need the best tools and expertise to work together. As a Christian, the tools needed for you to successfully achieve your goals for the month are the Lord’s word. After proper planning, you need the guidance of the Lord in your monthly walk. You need the favor and grace of God always in everything you try to achieve.
Through the travels and movements and confrontations, you need the Lord watching over you 24/7. There will be invisible obstacles that lie in wait for you as you move on with your journey and this is the reason why prayer and supplication to the Lord should never be taken for granted.
These are the tools and expertise you need as a Christian to begin a victorious month in the Lord.
Set Milestones
“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that whoever reads it may run with it.
Habakkuk 2:2-3
God liked to get things documented so that they wouldn’t be forgotten. He made Moses put his commandments on a tablet so they would be left for generations to come.
You must put down your milestones to be able to recognize where the Lord has taken you from to where he has taken you. Milestones give you physical evidence of your progress with the Lord.
Never fail to record victories no matter how small they may look to you. Having a milestone lets you know your progress and also where you need to improve. It also lets you know what you need to do to even exceed your expectation for the future.
Let the Lord know you are grateful for what he has done for you and document them for future generations to see and know his goodness.
Learn from old mistakes
let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.
Proverbs 1:5
Wise people are so because they learn constantly so they do not repeat the same mistakes of the past. Look at the things you could have done differently in the last month.
Look at all the falls and bruises you took and determine how you avoid those things this month. As always, ask the Lord for his guidance and be wiser in the future. Do not wait for adversity to strike before you take refuge but rather look out for them in the distance and do something to avoid it.
The only way you can be stronger each month is to learn from the pitfalls of the past and not repeat them in the future. Be guided by the Lord in prayer and from the learning of his word. This is how you grow as a Christian.
Have faith in the Lord
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:4
As a Christian, your compass is your faith in God. It is your shield and your strength. Believing that as long as the Lord is with you, everything will work together perfectly for your good is how you win your battles. Christ in you is the hope of your glory.
Alone, you can achieve nothing. Having faith in God is how you overcome all spiritual impediments and obstacles that will be thrown your way.
Faith in the Lord sets you apart and protects you from all the evil that tries to bring you down. When you look at your life and think to yourself ‘there’s no way I achieved this on my own’ it means that your faith in God has been working for you in ways that you couldn’t have imagined.
Your strength is not the reason you are alive, but rather it is your faith in the goodness of God that will carry you to any victory.
