The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Storms can take many forms and come in varying intensities. Throughout history, storms have wreaked havoc and destroyed people’s entire lives. Sometimes they come with a warning, so you can prepare and other times they come at the time when you are least prepared. There are storms that are so overwhelming that they devastate even the most well-prepared among us. Storms come to destroy and kill. They come to ruin what people have spent their whole lives, time, and money building.
In the verse above, the disciples were traveling on the sea with Jesus. At first, the waters were calm, but suddenly, a violent storm arose, threatening their lives. The disciples thought that was their end. Meanwhile, Jesus was asleep amidst the storm. When they woke Him, He calmed the storm instantly, ensuring their safety. Then, He asked them, “Where is your faith?”
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.
Psalm 107:29
Storms are undeniably frightening. And anyone amid a storm, would be naturally terrified. But Jesus asking the disciples about their faith tells us that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, it is important to hold on to our faith in God. It is important to trust that He is with us and so though the storms may rise, He will shield us and protect us through it all.

Almighty Father,
We thank You for our lives and for Your boundless love, and unwavering protection. We come into Your Holy presence in the middle of this storm, seeking shelter under Your mighty hand. Father, we pray that You calm this storm and silence the raging winds. You are the Lord who commands the winds and waves, and they obey because You are sovereign. Please speak over this storm and bring peace to the chaos.
Lord, we are afraid for our lives, knowing that if this storm continues to wreak havoc, it will leave behind unimaginable destruction and countless casualties. We plead with You, Father, to save Your children from death and despair. Do not let us perish in this storm but deliver us with Your mighty power. Thank You, Father, for hearing our plea and coming to our rescue.

Dear Lord,
I pray for safety amid these storms. Awaken Your Spirit within me, and let my faith stand strong against the raging winds. I command the storms to settle and rebuke any destructive forces of evil. I destroy every evil mechanism set against my life and speak to these waters, that they may obey my voice.
Protect me from wayward winds, shield me from twisters and hurricanes, and guard me from harm caused by flying debris. Watch over my family, keeping us safe from injury and death. Hear our plea, O Lord, and save us from destruction. Just as You saved Lot and his family, rescue mine as well. Let our lives emerge from this storm better than before.

Merciful Lord,
We have been warned of an approaching storm, and we thank You for this revelation that allows us to prepare. Father, we humbly ask for Your safety and protection during this time. Keep us sheltered under Your mighty wings and let no harm come near us. Your Word in Psalm 91 declares that though a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand, it shall not come near us. Lord, we hold fast to this promise.
Though the storm may rise and the winds may rage, we trust that no harm will touch me or my family. Shield our home from the fury of the storm, dear Lord, and safeguard all that we hold dear. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray.

Sovereign Lord,
We thank You for Your beautiful creation that surrounds us. We thank You for the changing seasons that bring new wonders to our lives. As we step into winter, we are grateful for the beauty it brings, but we also come before You seeking safety and protection during the harsh storms of this season.
Lord, when the winds howl and the temperatures drop, the cold becomes overwhelming. Blizzards and freezing rain can bring challenges and cause harm to our lives and property.
We humbly ask for Your protection this winter. Keep us safe through every storm, and guard us from harm. Thank You, Lord, for Your unending love and care.
