As this year is coming to an end. Everyone is looking forward to a better year ahead. Whether this year was a very good year for you or not, you still hope for an even better new year. With a new year comes, new beginnings, new hopes, new dreams, and new aspirations.
Usually, around this time of the year, most people make their New Year’s resolutions and set their goals for the new year. But no matter what your plans for the new year are, it is important that you pray and dedicate the new year to God.
He’s the only one who knows what lies ahead of us and what the new year will bring to us. So it is important that we rely on Him as we journey into the new year.
A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

2 Important things to do as we step into the new year
Be thankful
It doesn’t matter if this year was a really bad one for you, there is always something to be thankful for. So be thankful to God that he has brought you to the end of another year.
Be thankful that you are alive to hope and dream for a better new year. Because no matter how bad things have been this year, God is still with us and He will always be with us.
Things may look like they will never turn around. The storm is darker than it has ever been and you may feel like you are done and you should give up.
But no, you are not done. Why? Because you are not alone. Because you are not on your own. There’s someone mightier and stronger with you.
There’s no storm too strong that he can’t calm (Psalm 107:29). No giant too big that He can’t defeat (1 Samuel 17:45). No fire too hot that He can’t step into and bring you out (Daniel 3:23-26).
So have faith and know that peace is coming your way, favor is coming, victory is coming. God is going to turn things around in your life. So rejoice. Be thankful. Have faith and believe that God is working in your life.
Forgive
As we step into the new year, let go of any grudges or anger from the past year. Forgive and embrace the new year with a loving heart.
Keep in mind that forgiving is not about the other person. It is about you. It frees you. It heals your body mind and spirit.
Forgiveness opens up a pathway to a new place of peace, where you can persist despite what has happened to you. So forgive anyone who has caused you harm or pain as you embrace the new year.

Our heavenly Father, As we start the new year, we pray that you protect us from all evil arrows in Jesus’ name. We pray that your grace will be sufficient for us in Jesus’ name.
Oh Lord, we pray that you give us the power that we need to journey through the new year. We pray that in the coming year, we experience your mercy in the name of Jesus Christ. 5. Prayer to put God first in the New Year
Heavenly Father,
I thank You for all that You are and all that You do for me. Thank you for the opportunity to see a new year. Forgive me for all the times that I forgot to seek You first and did things my way.
In this new year, help me to put You first in everything I do. Remind me each and every day that I need You in my life. I don’t want to do things the same way I did in the past. Because my ways never work out for my good. Lord, in the new year, let things be Your ways and not my ways.

Dear God,
Thank You for Your goodness and mercies in my life. Thank You for the gift of life and the forgiveness of sins. As I welcome a new year, I pray that you, Oh God, will create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Help me to let go of all my wrong ways. Let your spirit be my guide and teach me the right things to do.
