8 Intercessory Prayers For Orphans

Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows and your children fatherless.

Exodus 22:22-24

We know that not all orphans are poor and vulnerable. There are orphans who have been given so much inheritance that they may never be poor or lack anything material in their lifetime. Even though they may need attention when it comes to their life choices, they are not the subject to which the text is referring. An orphan in this context is one who has nobody.

No mother to nurture them and no father to guide and protect them. These orphans are the vulnerable ones in our society. Orphans do not necessarily have deceased parents, they just do not have anyone looking out for them or praying for the role of parents in their lives.

God is the Father of the fatherless and motherless. When a small animal is without their parents, they become vulnerable to predators and the wicked. These are the same vulnerabilities an orphan faces in the world. As a Christian, you are the representative of Jesus Christ on earth.

That means that you must represent the interest of Christ Jesus on earth. That means that you should be merciful and accepting of those who are vulnerable. Orphans often feel dejected and alone and have to scrap for food that is often leftover.

They are left to fend for themselves and toil in the streets for survival. Do not feel that the blessings you receive from God are reserved for just you and your family. When God blesses you, He uses you to bless someone who needs help. God answers the prayers of people through his children.

Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.

Psalm 82:3

You must pray for the vulnerable in society. The privileges you enjoy each day and take for granted are not received by everyone. There are widows and orphans who do not have enough food to eat at night while there are people who have leftovers they throw away after they have had their fill. Do not be in this group.

Be mindful of the environment and the world around you. Do not ignore the beggars and the unfortunate you see on the streets when you walk by. Everywhere you go and whoever you meet is not an accident. It is always God’s plan for you to be where you are.

When the spirit leads you to the doorstep of a needy person, do not hesitate to be the help they need. One act of kindness can be able to change somebody’s life for the better. The love you show to an orphan can change the way they feel about the world. It can restore their faith in humanity.

Your small act of kindness can prevent an orphan from associating themselves with a destructive group or influence. Do not feel like anything you do isn’t important or cannot cause change. Always be prepared to sacrifice for the needy and underprivileged so the Lord will see it and bless you at your point of need.

Prayer for ophan in Prison

Orphans are God’s children too. They are like a lost animal who has no parents watching over them or looking out for them. As Christians, we must find them, cloth them, and bring them to our homes for warmth and protection.

God is Father to us all and that means He expects us to be there for those who need help. Those who cry out to the Lord are not saved by spirits that come down to touch them, they are saved by humans who allow themselves to be used by God to save those people.

Remember there is more blessing in giving than receiving. The good that you do for someone today is what will cause the Lord to reward you when you need Him too. ‘I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you John 14:18
