We live in a time when people glorify being busy and not taking breaks so much that, it makes everyone want to practice that too. Somehow we feel like when we take breaks to rest, we are being lazy and we can’t reach our goals and everyone else will be successful but us.
But the Bible makes us understand in Eccles iastes that the race is not for the swift. Life is not about how fast you are. Getting work done, hitting your goals, and being successful is all not about how quickly you get things done. It’s about getting things done right.
And the way to get things done right is to take your time and take breaks to relax and recharge. You’ll be amazed at the things you can do when you give your body the rest it needs. Always remember that the way you treat your body will soon catch up with you.
Even if you are eating right, exercising daily, and drinking the recommended 8 glasses of water daily but you are not giving your body time to rest, you are still going to break down eventually one day because the human body can only do so much.
Rest is so important that God even included it in the commandments, that we should rest. So it’s okay to rest, it’s okay to take breaks, and it’s okay to take time out for yourself.
Rest isn’t just about giving your body a break. It is also time for your mind to relax and recharge. So even if you are physically not doing anything but your mind is occupied and you are worrying and stressing, you are not resting as you should.
For a Christian, worrying and stressing about anything at all shouldn’t be your portion. God says that we should give him all our worries and He will give us peace. Why then do you use your rest time to worry? Go to the Lord in prayer with whatever is worrying you and let him give you rest.
Below we’ll take a look at some bible verses about rest.
