Verse – Psalm 107:8-15

Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains, because they rebelled against God’s commands and despised the plans of the Most High.

So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind

Reflections – Psalm 107:8-15

Every day is an opportunity to practice gratitude and give thanks to God for all that He is and all that He does for us. God is a faithful God and he provides all our needs. So there is every need to always give thanks. You don’t only have to give thanks when things are going right in your life. Psalm 107:13-14 says “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains”.

This means that even when times are hard and you feel defeated and overwhelmed, give thanks to the Lord and praise His name. When we worship Him and praise Him, He inhabits our praise (Psalm 22:3). In his presence, there is power, and we will be renewed and restored to His splendor. When we seek after Him, He rewards us and begins to work wonders in our lives. So give thanks.

We thank God because we are alive to do so. Dead people cannot thank Him. From the time we are born until this day He has preserved our lives and watched upon us each day. He gives us life and rescues us from trouble. His love is abundant for those who call upon Him.

As we live today, we continue to enjoy his daily gifts of food, water, and air. There are those who are struggling to breathe right now. We give thanks to the God who existed before our existence and will continue to exist even after we are long gone.
