Joshua 10:12-13
On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
Reflections
There is always a day, and there is always a time. Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that God operates on His own divine timeline. He is never early, never late, but always right on time.
His plans are precise, and when we choose to align our lives with His will, we begin to experience the supernatural hand of God guiding us, even in the most difficult battles.
The story of Joshua is a powerful example of this truth. Joshua, leading the Israelites into battle, made a bold request to God in the presence of all Israel. He asked for time to stand still, to literally stop the sun and moon, so that Israel could finish the task at hand and secure the victory.
This wasn’t just poetic imagery; it was a miraculous intervention. God heard Joshua and responded in power, altering the course of nature to ensure His people triumphed.
This account reminds us that God is not limited by the natural order of things. When we are in alignment with His will, He is able and willing to intervene in ways that defy human logic.
Joshua’s boldness came from a place of trust. He believed that if God had promised victory, then time itself could not stand in the way of that fulfilment.
Consider Moses. Though God promised to deliver the Israelites from slavery, the process was long and full of obstacles. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened time and time again. Doubt crept in. The people grumbled. Yet God was faithful.
At the Red Sea, when escape seemed impossible and death loomed behind them, God made a way where there was none. The sea parted. A divine path opened. Victory was delivered.
These stories serve as more than historical accounts, they are testimonies to the character of God. They remind us that when we trust Him, obey Him, and walk in His purpose, He will go before us. He sees what we do not. He knows the terrain ahead. And when challenges arise, He responds with precision and power.
In our own lives, we may not see literal seas parting or celestial bodies halting in the sky, but God still works miracles. He still answers bold prayers. He still makes a way where there seems to be no way.
Our job is to remain faithful to His plan, even when we don’t understand it. When we follow His direction rather than our own desires, we walk a path marked by divine provision, protection, and purpose.
Sometimes, our timelines don’t match God’s. We may expect quick results or immediate solutions. But God’s timing is always perfect. If Joshua had relied on natural circumstances, the day would have ended and the battle lost. But by trusting in the supernatural power of God, he saw a full victory.
Trusting God doesn’t mean the journey will be easy but it does mean we’ll never walk alone. When we surrender our timing, plans, and fears to Him, we position ourselves to experience His extraordinary intervention.

Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for being the God of perfect timing and limitless power. Just as You honoured Joshua’s bold request and caused the sun to stand still, I believe You are able to move mightily in my life to fulfil Your purposes.Help me to tune my heart to Your voice and follow Your leading without hesitation. When I’m tempted to rely on my own understanding or grow impatient, remind me that Your plans are always for my good and Your timing is never late.
Teach me to trust You more deeply, especially when the path ahead is unclear. Keep me from straying onto roads You haven’t called me to walk. Strengthen my faith, so I may stand firm in times of trial and see Your hand at work, even in the waiting.
May I never forget that You are the God who makes a way, whether through a sea or across a battlefield and that nothing is too difficult for You.
Amen.
