When I first became a mom, my favorite thing to do was carry my baby girl. I could never get enough of holding her close. Everyone around me would say, “Put her down, or she’ll get too used to being held, and you won’t be able to get anything done.” But then one day, someone told me something that changed my perspective.
She said, “Every time you hold your baby in your arms, speak blessings over her life.” I was a bit puzzled and asked, “Huh?” She explained, “Whenever you hold your daughter, just pray for her. Speak blessings over her future. Don’t just hold her, bless her.” That advice stayed with me, and I decided to give it a try.
From that moment on, every time I held my baby, I prayed. I spoke blessings over her life, not just for the present, but for her future too. It became a habit, one that I carried forward with all my children.
Now, they’re no longer babies, and I don’t get to hold them in my arms as often. But every now and then, they’ll come to lie next to me, and I’ll hug them tightly. And when I do, I still speak blessings over their lives.
Blessing your children should be a constant practice. Whenever you get the chance, use it to declare amazing things over their lives. Bless their health, their education, their career, their present, and their future. The blessings you speak over your daughter might be exactly what she needs to flourish. These words will empower her for the times when you aren’t there to guide or protect her.
Blessings for my daughter
Almighty Lord,
I thank You for the precious gift of my beautiful daughter. I pray for Your divine shield of protection to surround her always. Guard her from harm and let no evil come near her.
I pray against anyone who looks upon her with evil intent. Silence any evil ears that hear of her and any evil mouths that speak against her. Cover her with Your mighty wings and keep her safe throughout her life.
Lord, I pray against kidnappers, stalkers, robbers, rapists and anyone who might seek to cause her harm. Guide her in choosing friends who will draw her closer to You. Grant her discernment to recognize friends who are good for her and distance herself from those who may lead her astray.
Help me raise her with values aligned with Your will, and let her remain steadfast in those values as she grows.
Grant her wisdom, Lord, to understand the importance of Your presence in her life and to obey Your commandments. Bless her studies and education, giving her the knowledge and understanding to excel in all she is taught.
I pray for her heart, that it may be filled with love, compassion, and empathy. Let her treat everyone with kindness and respect, so that she may be known for her loving spirit.
Let Your grace and favor be her constant companions, escorting her wherever life leads. May she thrive in all she does. May she always be the head and never the tail. May she never lack anything in life. Lord, bless her abundantly and let her cup overflow.
Let her life align perfectly with Your plans. I pray against any diversions or delays that may hinder her path. Bless her decisions so they align with the career and purpose You have destined for her.
Surround her with people who will inspire her to make good choices and fill her heart with a deep desire to know You. Let her love You deeply and trust in Your presence, even when I am not by her side.
Thank You, Lord, for Your love and blessings in my daughter’s life.
