Reflection – Psalm 96:4-6 – God Is Above All Gods

Psalm 96:4-6

Verse – Psalm 96:4-6

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Reflection – Psalm 96:4-6 – God Is Above All Gods

When we are entreated not to follow other gods, it means that we should not serve any idols in our lives. Idols can come in many forms. Some people turn their jobs, friends, parents, and images into their gods.

When you realize that all your hope, faith, and reverence are placed in something that becomes your god. You believe anything they tell you to be the gospel truth.

God prompts us to remember that he made the heavens and that if we want to walk in splendor and royalty then he is the God for us. He also says that we will be strong and glorious if we put our faith in him and only him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for showing me the truth
Some things may look attractive on earth
but they won’t take me to heaven
Help me remain strong in you
Never let me sway or follow the world
Let me dwell in your sanctuary all the days that I live
Amen
