10 Prayers For December To Finish The Year In Faith

December holds a special place in the heart of every Christian. It’s more than just the final chapter of the year, it’s a sacred reminder of the greatest gift ever given to mankind: the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

As we draw the year to a close, we are reminded of this profound truth, the Son of God, sinless and blameless, was born into this world to be the perfect sacrifice for our salvation. This truth may seem unbelievable to some. Many question how the Creator of the universe could send His only Son to redeem a fallen world.

Yet, truth remains truth, absolute and unchanging. Our existence is not self-originated. We were created by a holy and perfect God whose breath gave us life. As Scripture tells us:

“The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”
— Job 33:4

Just as we exist physically because of our earthly parents, our spiritual existence is rooted in our Heavenly Father. December reminds us that through Jesus, we are offered the opportunity to dwell with this eternal Father forever. Though it marks the end of a calendar year, it also commemorates the beginning of redemption through the birth of Christ.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
— Isaiah 7:14

God left no uncertainty about His plan. Jesus was not born of Adam’s seed but by divine intervention. His miracles and teachings gave us a glimpse of the Kingdom to come, a realm without suffering, war, or death. Heaven is where tears are wiped away, and life is lived in perfect communion with God.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…”
— Revelation 21:4

The birth of Christ is the fulfilment of God’s promise through the prophet Isaiah, a clear message that God does not forget His children. Just as He offered Adam and Eve a choice in Eden, He offers us the choice of eternal life through belief in His Son.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
— Isaiah 9:6

As we reflect on the year gone by this December, let us also reflect on our eternal purpose. This world is not our home. A glorious eternity awaits those who believe in Jesus Christ. May this season renew our faith and deepen our hope in the promise of everlasting life.

Prayers to Carry You Through December

Prayer of Thanks for December

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1

Dear Lord,

Thank You for allowing me to step into the month of December. This year has not been perfect, but through it all, You’ve been my constant help. Thank You for Your faithfulness, even when I doubted, delayed, or drifted. You never left me, and I honour You for that.

I’m grateful for the gift of life, for every heartbeat, every breath, and every opportunity. I do not take for granted the strength to rise in the morning, the work that sustains me, and the grace that sees me through long days. Thank You for the food on my table, for shelter, and for every unseen blessing You’ve poured out over my life.

I bless You for my family, for the joy they bring and the lessons we learn together. Thank You for Your hand of protection over us, for surrounding us with Your mercy, and for preserving our lives. I give You praise, not only for what You’ve done but for who You are my refuge, my source, and my peace.

Amen.

Covering Loved Ones in Prayer This December

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the lives of my family members. Thank You for watching over them from January to December. Through trials and triumphs, You have preserved them. As we approach the holidays, I commit each of them into Your loving care.

Keep them safe in all they do. May Your hand be upon their decisions and their paths be ordered by Your wisdom. Cover them as they travel, whether near or far, and bring them home safely to us. Let peace reign in our homes. Let arguments and misunderstandings be replaced with understanding and grace.

Strengthen the bond we share as a family. Where there is distance, restore connection. Where there is hurt, bring healing. May we grow deeper in love and remain united under Your covering. Protect our home from anything that seeks to divide us, and may our love reflect Your love for us.

Amen.

Prayer for Sustained Health

“Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you…” — 3 John 1:2

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sustaining our health this year. As we approach the end of it, I lift up every part of our bodies to You. Keep us strong through this holiday season. Let our bodies function the way You designed them to every organ, every cell, every system under Your control.

I reject any sickness or weakness waiting to steal our joy this month. May every form of infection, disease, or pain be cast away in Jesus’ name. Cleanse our blood, strengthen our bones, and renew our energy each day. Purify our food and water, and protect us from anything harmful we may not see.

Cover our immune systems with Your power. Let Your healing rest upon our homes, that we may walk in vitality and wholeness, not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally.

Amen.

Prayer for Divine Protection

“The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life.” — Psalm 121:7

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for bringing us to this moment in the year. As we enter this holiday season, I ask for Your protection over my life and those I love. Guard us in every area, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.

Cover us when we travel. Be present in our comings and goings. Protect us from car accidents, from hidden dangers, and from people with harmful intentions. Shield our homes from intruders, illness, or spiritual attacks. Let Your angels surround us wherever we are.

At night, give us peaceful sleep. During the day, lead us away from harm. Let no weapon formed against us prosper. We trust in Your covering, and we rest in Your promise to keep us safe.

Amen.

A Hopeful Start to the New Year

“You crown the year with your goodness, and your paths drip with abundance.” — Psalm 65:11

Heavenly Father,

As this year winds down, I look ahead with hope and expectation. I thank You for the lessons, blessings, and challenges of this year and I surrender the year to come into Your hands.

Guide my steps in the new year. Help me to set goals that are aligned with Your will. Bless the work of my hands and let the seeds I sow bear fruit in season. Whether it’s in my career, ministry, relationships, or personal growth, may I walk in Your purpose and peace.

Let the new year be marked by increase: more wisdom, more patience, more faith, more joy. Keep me from the mistakes of the past and lead me in fresh revelation and direction.

Amen.

Healing for the Sick

“By His wounds we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5

Merciful Lord,

We remember those battling illness this month. While many are celebrating, they are confined to hospital beds or rooms filled with pain. But You are the Healer, and we call upon Your name for them today.

Heal every sickness, known and unknown. Remove tumours, destroy infections, regulate blood, renew organs, and restore immune systems. Let Your healing power touch their bodies and bring rest to their souls.

May they feel seen and loved, even in their pain. Let their recovery surprise doctors. Let their faith be renewed through this struggle. May they come out of it testifying of Your goodness.

Amen.

Compassion for the Vulnerable

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them…” — Proverbs 19:17

Dear Lord in heaven,

As we celebrate this month, we pause to remember those less fortunate. Some have no roof over their heads. Others have no food, no family, no safety. Their cries echo across this world, and today, I lift them before You.

Be near to the hungry, the homeless, the hopeless. Visit the orphan and the widow, the forgotten and the abused. Bring relief to war-torn places, comfort to those in refugee camps, and healing to those who feel they’ve been overlooked. Let Your mercy flood every dry place and Your love fill every aching heart.

Use us, Lord, as vessels of Your compassion. Move our hearts to give, to serve, and to intercede for those who need it most. May this season not be one of self-indulgence alone but one of generosity and deep care for others.

Amen.

Intercession for Unbelievers

“The Lord… is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9

Dear Lord,

In this season of light, I pray for those still walking in darkness—those who do not yet believe. Some have been wounded by life, others have been misled or hardened by pain. But I know Your love is stronger than doubt, deeper than confusion, and more persistent than rejection.

Open their eyes to see the truth of who You are. Break through the walls they’ve built. Let the story of Jesus’ birth speak personally to their hearts this December. May they be drawn by the peace they see in others, and may that peace point them straight to You.

Reveal the beauty of Your salvation. Call them by name. Let their hearts be softened and stirred by Your Spirit. Let the gift of Your Son bring them to the doorstep of belief.

Amen.

Prayer for Financial Provision

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19

Heavenly Father,

As we approach the end of this year, I bring my finances before You. You are my provider, and I trust You to sustain me. Thank You for the income I’ve received this year and for the opportunities You’ve given me.

I ask that You bless my efforts and let my work produce more than enough. Let there be no lack in my household. Cancel every financial burden and remove anything that delays my breakthrough. Fill my storehouse and show me how to manage my resources wisely.

May I also be a blessing to others with what You have given me. Let my financial testimony glorify Your name.

Amen.

Restoring the Broken-Hearted

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

Gracious Father,

December is meant to be a joyful time, but for many, it is a season of sorrow. I lift up the broken, those grieving a loss, recovering from trauma, or simply feeling alone.

Comfort those who have lost loved ones. Be near to those in abusive environments. Bring light into the dark places and renew joy where it has died. Let the birth of Christ remind them that hope is never lost.

Use us to encourage someone who is struggling. Help us notice those in need of a kind word, a helping hand, or a quiet prayer. May Your healing touch reach every hurting heart this month.

Amen.

December should be a month of celebration, but for many, it brings hardship, pain, and loneliness. As Christians, we are called to pray, not only for ourselves but for the world around us.

When you eat, remember the hungry.
When you smile, remember the hurting.
When you celebrate, pray for the lost.

“But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.” — Titus 3:4–5

Let December be a month not just of joy, but of intercession, generosity, and compassion.
