Verse – Acts 14:8-10
In Lystra, there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.
Reflection – Acts 14:8-10 – What Faith Can Do
This was a man who had never walked in his life. He didn’t know what it felt like to do so and yet he had faith that he could walk. The word of God comes to many people but only a few are able to experience the miracles that follow faith in God.
The man could already picture himself walking long before Paul came to tell him to rise up. That is what faith does. It doesn’t matter what has gone before. It doesn’t matter what your body is able or not able to accomplish. God’s power has no limits.
No matter what bad turns our lives take, God can always restore them as long as we remain faithful to him. The faith the man had is what brought him onto his feet. Paul saw that power in the man and realized that the man was spiritually on his feet already. His body just needed to follow suit. Paul then spoke to the man’s spirit and the man heard him, so the body followed suit.
Our spirits bear witness with the Holy Spirit that we have been saved and therefore must enjoy all the gifts the Good Lord bestows on his children.
