Reflection – Matthew 21:28-31 – Do God’s Will

Verse – Matthew 21:28-31

Verse – Matthew 21:28-31

What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ ‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go.

“Which of the two did what his father wanted?”
“The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.

Reflection – Matthew 21:28-31 – Do God’s Will

The parable of the two sons was used by Jesus to explain how the hearts of men will be judged by God and not what men say outwardly. There are those who claim to love the Lord but have no love within them for their fellow man. How can you claim to love God whom you cannot see but claim to love your fellow man that you see every day?(1 John 4:20)

The first son disobeyed his father in the beginning, but after thinking it through he had a change of heart and obeyed the father. The second son agreed to do what the father wanted but didn’t do it after. God is pleased by those who love and obey him both inwardly and outwardly.

There are sinners who will go to heaven because they will accept the Lord and change their ways along the line. There are men of God who outwardly profess his name and do miracles but do not have the love of God in them. God is pleased by those who obey him and do his will.

When the love of God is in you, it is impossible to hate your fellow man because they are the creation of God. Do not harbor evil thoughts in your heart about your neighbor and then outwardly pretend to like them. God sees your heart and cannot be deceived.
