In the Bible, we learn that God exists as three persons: God the Father, His Word (Jesus Christ, the Son), and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son. But who exactly is the Holy Spirit, and what does He do in our lives?
In John chapters 14 to 16, Jesus spoke extensively about the Holy Spirit, referring to Him as the Helper or Comforter. Jesus promised that after His ascension, the Father would send the Holy Spirit to guide, teach, and empower believers (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), leading people to repentance and faith in Christ.
For those who believe, the Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the Christian life. He dwells within us (1 Corinthians 6:19), producing spiritual fruit such as love, joy, and peace (Galatians 5:22–23). Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot truly understand God’s Word or live a victorious Christian life. He is our divine Helper, working within us to transform our hearts and make us more like Christ.
