How To Live Life To The Fullest

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Psalm 16:11

What does it mean exactly to live life to the fullest? To most people amassing wealth, gaining influence and fame, and being able to provide abundantly for family and many descendants to come is what is termed as living life to the fullest.

To others, it is about being able to bring forth many children who will in turn bear more children to fill a family tree. To others, it is being able to cause a positive change that remarkably impacts the world as we know it and changes history for the better.

To some, it is about achieving something no one has ever achieved and having a lasting monument built in their honor and in remembrance of that achievement. To some, it is about being able to save lives with a certain skill that they have acquired.

Some are fulfilled by their associations with people of influence and fame. Others are fulfilled by the positive things that people say to them. To others, it is the rewards they receive from people they help that fulfill them.

All these scenarios relate to people who do not have salvation in Christ. Because when you have that, a full life should mean very different to you. As the text says, in the presence of God there is fullness of joy and pleasures forever more.

As a Christian, the fullness of your life is determined by how well you know God and the benefits you receive from knowing Him. The riches and fame of the physical world will not fulfill you. True fulfillment comes from the abundance of grace that we receive from our walk with God.

You must set your heart on the things above if you want to live life to the fullest. Do not be interested in things that fade away but rather things that will last eternally. Be one with the spirit of God in all you do and you will be fulfilled in life.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Deuteronomy 30:19,20

Abraham lived his life to the fullest because he walked with God and was one with him. His faith in God was unquestionable and righteousness was freely given to him. A Christian cannot live a full life until his righteousness is assured in the Lord through Christ Jesus.

This is why you must seek the kingdom of God first so that every other gift in life is added unto you. Those who seek the gifts of the world before the Lord are left unfulfilled at the end of their lives. The gifts of this world are not what gives man eternal life.

They give man temporary pleasures in a temporary life. This is why despite all the wonderful gifts you may be getting in this life, you may still be left unfulfilled or feel like there is something missing. The spirit that gives us life seeks fulfillment in other ways other than what this physical world provides.

Imagine being told in the hospital that you need a blood infusion to stay alive. The only way this happens is if they get a blood type that can match with what you have inside you. In the same way, God’s spirit requires you to feed it with the things of the spirit otherwise it suffers and doesn’t grow.

When your spirit doesn’t grow in the Lord, it will not be able to allow you to live to the fullest. God is the source of your life. That means that He knows exactly what you need to get the best out of the life He has given you. When you travel to a new land, the best way to settle in is to find someone who has been living there for a long time and can take you through all the rules and ways of that place so you do not find yourself in trouble.

Your life is a unique gift from God. Just as a car will last long if the owner keeps contact with the manufacturer, no one else can give you life except Him so sticking with the manufacturer of your life is the only way you can enjoy it to the fullest.

Find joy in God

Delight thyself also in the LORD, and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Psalm 37:4

Be delighted in the things of God. Let the commandments of God be a guide unto your path. Let His word bring joy to your heart. The knowledge that God exists for you should bring you peace and tranquility. Love, forgive, give to the poor, do not bear false witness, do not be abusive, do not lust after the treasures of this life but rather set your heart upon His ways.

Find happiness in God. Fortify your spirit in prayer always and do not be lured into sin. Surround yourself with things that help you grow in the Lord. When you live your life this way your spirit is full of joy and continues to create treasures for you that you cannot see.

A soul that is constantly living in the joy of the Lord is always fulfilled no matter what may be going on in their lives because they know that God will deliver them out of any travails they find themselves in.

Accept Christ

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 4:13

Without Christ, God’s prophesy is not fulfilled in you. The only way you can access all the benefits that God has in store for us is through Christ. The text talks about doing everything through Christ that gives you strength.

The strength being referred to here is authority. It’s like being given a ticket to enter anywhere in a very exclusive building full of rewards and wonderful packages. Strength is often seen as a force to overcome another barrier or an equally powerful force.

This strength Christ gives to those who accept him is a strength that overcomes and breaks down all doors that prevent you from achieving your dreams. It is an automatic ticket that gets you to the places in life that God expects you to be.

Do not forget that God has already given you all the gifts in Christ. Acquiring those gifts now requires that olden ticket you get when you accept him. This strength gives you the authority to live to the potential God has set for you.

Do for God

And whatsoever* ye do, do it heartily*, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

Colossians 3:23

Living life to the fullest means not living in a way that pleases man but rather in a way that pleases God. God sees everything we do and are about to do. That means that if all men sing your praises and adore you, it is probably because they do not know the real you.

Gaining favor in the eyes of man therefore means nothing. Men are often controlled by or dictated to by their feelings and the gifts they receive from you. These things can cloud a man’s judgment of what a good character is.

When you are able to please the Lord, it means you are truly of good character, because God is able to see all the secrets man hides and all the desires that reside in their hearts. God knows the thoughts of man and nothing can be hidden from Him.

Pleasing God means your life will be fulfilled unto the end. you should therefore approach every endeavor as if you were doing it to please your manker and not man.
