A Short Prayer Of Thanks

Some days remind us how easy it is to forget gratitude. Life can get busy, overwhelming, and even painful at times. Yet, one thing we must never stop doing is giving thanks to God. Day after day, He gives us countless reasons to be grateful, reasons we often overlook.

Even on the hardest days, when nothing seems to go right, there is still something to thank Him for: the air we breathe, the light of a new morning, the peace of nightfall, the unseen battles He’s fought and won on our behalf.

God’s goodness is constant, and His love never fades. Even when we stumble, even when we fall short, His mercy still reaches us. There truly is no one like Him.

A prayer of thanks

Dear Lord,

Today I come before Your throne, not to ask for anything, but simply to say thank You. Thank You for the gift of life and for blessing me with the people I love. Thank You for providing for my needs; for food on the table, strength for each new day, and a safe place to rest my head.

Thank You, Lord, for Your protection. For guiding me through unseen dangers, for being my refuge when life feels uncertain. Thank You for the moments of joy, the lessons in hardship, and the quiet reassurance that You are always with me.

I’m grateful for Your mercy that never runs out, and for Your love that stays the same no matter what I do. Thank You for saving me from paths that would have led to harm, and for turning even my mistakes into moments of grace.

You are my shepherd in every season, my strength when I am weak, and my peace when I am overwhelmed. For all You are, and for all You do, thank You, Lord. I give You all the glory, honour, and praise.

Amen.

Gratitude is not just a response to good days; it’s an act of faith even in the hard ones. When we thank God in every circumstance, we shift our focus from what’s missing to what’s already been given.

Take a moment today to pause, breathe, and simply say, “Thank You, Lord.” Because no matter how the day unfolds, He remains good, faithful, and worthy of all our praise.

Sctripture for today

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
