Reflection – Daniel 9:17-19 – We Still Bear His Name

Verse – Daniel 9:17-19

Verse – Daniel 9:17-19

“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

Reflection – Daniel 9:17-19 – We still bear his name

Today’s reflection is a fervent prayer to the Lord to forgive and forget the transgressions of his people and take away the desolation on their land. God brought his people from bondage but the same people have turned against him and are doing evil in his sight. He is angry and has visited torment and torture on them. This is happening today.

There is strife on our lands because we have not obeyed God’s commandments but rather we have carried on our evil ways and turned our backs on him after everything he has done for us.

Daniel aggressively prayed to the Lord to remove the desolation from them because they were still children of his.

In our lives, there are times our children rebel against us and disrespect us. How we feel when these things happen is what God feels when we disobey him. However, he is a caring and loving God who forgives and restores us if we pray to him and regret our sinfulness and do them no more.
