Reflection – 1 John 4:15-16 – God Loves Us Through Christ

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

Reflection – 1 John 4:15-16 – God Loves Us Through Christ

There are huge benefits we enjoy as Christians just by acknowledging Christ as the Son of God. God comes to live in us and we live in Him spiritually. God becomes our protector and provider. Our lives change immediately and we are surrounded by love.

Love is a symptom of having God in you. The gentleness and humility you show toward others is not a physical trait you inherited but a spiritual gift given to you by God. Your life as a Christian must mirror the life of Christ. That means that where others judge and alienate, you must accept and bring together.

Having Christ in you makes you a special gem and set you apart from all other stones. You cannot claim to have God in you when you continue to exhibit behavior that drives people away from Him. You must be a shining example of God’s goodness and mercy at all times so that people in the world will be drawn to him through you.

We should show love no matter what we go through. When others come to us in their time of need, we must not turn them away but rather draw them closer to us. As Christ accepted sinners, among which we are, we must also accept those who wrong us and lead them to God. We are in the world but we are not of the world and must show ourselves as such.
