How To Cultivate Self-Acceptance

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1.

Right from birth, people start competing for recognition and acceptance. There is a constant need to be liked and that can develop into a poor self-image.

Some parents do not help their children cultivate self acceptance because they are always comparing them to other people. There are other times when parents neglect the feelings of some of their children in favor of other siblings. This can cause them to feel inferior to others and make them develop low self-esteem. This can also make them question everything about themselves and grow up not accepting themselves for who they are.

As Christians, we must understand that everything God made was perfect the way he made it. Yes, there are birth defects that may cause babies to be disfigured and sick but every soul that was created by God was made in perfection. It doesn’t matter what your body looks like because your outward appearance will never stay permanent. Even the most beautiful of faces will wrinkle and die as time goes on.

This metaphorically speaks to the fact that you get your strength and acceptance from your soul. A beautiful and strong soul does not allow anyone or anything to discourage them. They accept themselves for who they were created to be and they do not doubt themselves over what genetic constitution created their mortal bodies.

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.’’

Psalm 139:14.

Your soul knows of your perfection because it has been in the presence of God. Your body knows not of any encounter with God that is why the body will cause you to doubt God’s work. God’s presence is felt in the souls of men because no one tells you that God exists.

In the same way, be convinced in your soul that you were made spotless by God. There is a reason the devil has no interest in your body but craves for your soul to be his. It’s because he knows how precious your soul is and how wonderful you are as a creation in the image of the Lord himself.

If the devil knows this, then you must know it too. Feel how precious and unique you are in your soul and never let anyone tell you any different. The things you can achieve are limitless because you were created by the creator of the entire universe in his image and likeness.

Fully accept yourself in the Lord and face this life with zero fears and doubts. Christ has set you free from all mental blocks and slavery. You are no longer under any yolk which means that you can claim your portion in the Lord for who he created you to be. This means your body can no longer limit you but only you can limit yourself.

Only listen to God’s voice

Do not fear. I have redeemed you. I have summoned you. You are mine”.

Isaiah 43:1.

If you ever feel like you are alone and do not belong, this is the message for you. God accepts you and it is only his voice that should matter to you. Your life is not ordinary because you belong to the Most High.

Do not ever feel like your life is not worth anything because that is simply not true. Your existence was planned, calculated, and perfectly executed by Him. That means that no matter where or how you find yourself, you are not an accident.

Your presence here is for a purpose. Look in the mirror every morning and say to yourself ‘I do not exist by chance.’ Carry this message in your heart and soul always and know that you bear the surname of God.

Do not accept any limits

Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?

Job 11:7

The God who created your soul has no limitations so you must not limit yourself in this world. Do not doubt the heights to which you can reach and exceed. When something or someone tries to put you down, remember that your source is God and if He has no limitations, then you don’t either.

Accept yourself as an heir of God and know that you are capable of exceeding all expectations you have set yourself. Do not be put in a box. This habit will help you break bounds and help you discover your own ability.

Every obstacle you overcome will teach you more about yourself than any other thing can. The heights you overcome will tell you how high you can jump and cause you to accept your strong identity.

Count your blessings

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.

Psalm 103:1-2.

Your soul has already encountered God as we have learned earlier. It is therefore important to never forget the blessing you have enjoyed from God. Jot them down one by one if you have to. That’s how you will always know He has always been with you and will never desert you.

Your soul will always remind you of just how precious and unique you are. Your blessings will let you know God is always in your life because you are very important to him.

As a usual benefactor of his love and blessing, it is impossible for you to feel worthless. This should make you overjoyed each day just to exist. His constant favor and grace on you mean you are a precious creation. Knowing this, nothing should be able to cause you to doubt your worth.
