How To Build Your Confidence In God

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

Hebrews 10:35-36.

Having confidence is about believing that the path you are on will lead you to the success you require. In Christ, there is the confidence that our toil on earth will not be in vain and that everything we touch in his name will be a success for us.

There are times the road you are traveling on will take very nasty and sharp turns. There will be rough patches that may look inaccessible and make you ponder whether to turn back.

Having confidence in the path you are on means that you are willing to move forward no matter the obstacle that may befall you. Even though there may be things distracting you from your path you have to keep going forward until you reach your destination.

According to the text, God’s will requires confidence to fulfill. If your faith is weak, you will not be able to do the will of God. It is important that you ask God for strength to remain focused on his promise no matter the circumstances that may be in front of you. Having the belief that everything will work out for you in the end as long as you remain in the Lord, will make you keep going and never give up.

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”.

Hebrews 13:6

Building your confidence is very important for your growth and prosperity. The strength of your confidence will depend on the magnitude or level of obstacle you can resist or move past just like the strength of a trailer will always depend on the amount of load it can hold.

Your ability to stand firm and resist the tests and trials that come your way will depend on the level of your confidence. This is why it is important to build confidence. When you are able to pass through a small obstacle today, you can make it through that same obstacle tomorrow.

When the obstacle gets bigger you need strong confidence and belief to be able to overcome that new challenge. Learn how to build your confidence in the Lord. When your confidence is built in the Lord, there is nothing you can’t handle.

There will be no challenge or obstacle that you can’t overcome. Knowing always that he will fight for you will get you through any difficult situation you may be facing. It doesn’t matter how big the situation is, the Lord has already overcome them.

6 steps to build your confidence in God

Build your mental strength

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

Exodus 15:2.

The biggest building block for your confidence building is mental strength. When the Lord says he has given you victory it means that your future glory is already assured, you just need to move towards it now.

When you accept in your mind that you have already been counted for victory you move with confidence. It is a surety that no matter what barriers you may come across, the Lord has already overcome them for you. This is what should be in your mind always.

When you already know your destination, nobody can dissuade you from continuing your journey. This is the mental strength you need to be able to sustain your confidence in the Lord. Know in yourself that your victory is stamped and you will never lose hope in anything that you do.

Do not be moved

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Ephesians 6:13.

In God, you should not be moved. Say this verse every morning as well as Psalm 23. After you are done, go through your day in the confidence that there is nothing that will happen to you that you can’t handle.

When the Lord is with you, you are protected and cared for on every side. The full armor of God will defend you from all kinds of attacks. When the devil tries to destroy your confidence by making you see things that put fear in you that’s the time to say the above verse over and over.

Always keep the word of God about you in every situation. Do not be moved by what you see, hear or feel because that is the way to build your confidence in the Lord always.

Build your faith in the Lord

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6.

Faith in the Lord requires that you follow all his commandments and never doubt his ways. There are times you may feel like you need to do things your own way because that is the way of the Lord. In those times remember that human strength is limited and will always fade but the strength of the Lord is never diminished.

So even though things may not be going your way at the moment, continue to have faith in the ways of the Lord and he will never neglect or forsake you. He will make things happen in your life in ways you never expected them to happen. He will find a way to make your dreams real just because you kept your faith in him and didn’t do your own way even though it might have been easier to do.

Joshua 1:8

God’s words are laws. He cannot go back on any word he has said so you have to meditate on them day and night. When God says that keep faith in him and your ways will be straight, he means it as a principle and law. This means that you should meditate and fixate on this day and night so that you never forget and begin to think otherwise.

Meditating on God’s word also means that your confidence will never be rocked because you will have a message from God for every situation that you will find yourself in. Hanging on God’s words of strength builds your confidence and gives you a powerful approach to life. You no longer live in fear but you bask in victory knowing that the Lord will provide all you need anytime you need it.

Talk positivity

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Ephesians 4:29

It is important not to surround yourself with negative speakers. It is also important not to let negativity dominate your speech. From the previous point, you have learned to meditate on God’s words of strength and empowerment instead of letting negative thoughts and words dominate your mind and actions.

Surround yourself with people who always want to uplift you and not bring you down. Let your words motivate you and others even when the situation looks bleak. Let the spirit in you always be a joyful one even if your body isn’t willing. This allows positivity to come your way always and you are never downhearted even in trying times.

A fall is not the end

For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, But the wicked stumble in time of calamity.

Proverbs 24:16

Building your confidence means that you rise every time you fall. A slip-up is not the end of the world but a reminder that you should be careful next time. When you fall, learn from it and know the reasons why you fell so that next time you can avoid it.

Tests and trying times may arrive and you may fall flat on your face but rise up always knowing the Lord is on your side. Do not stay on the ground too long but dust yourself off and keep going. This is a very important way of building your confidence.
