34 Bible Verses About Protection To Cheer You Up

We can all agree that life can be a bit scary if not a lot. Things we see on the news, things we hear happen to our friends and neighbors, are all enough to frighten us.

So it can be a lot comforting to know that you have someone guarding and protecting you all the time. Someone to shield you from all the troubles of this world and give you a safe place to rest when you are tired and weary.

Some people have bodyguards to walk with them wherever they go, others have security officers at home to protect their house. Everybody looks for security and protection one way or the other.

But for Christians, there’s no one better to seek protection from than God. He is the almighty, He is omnipotent and He can and will protect you from everything if only you seek His protection.

So whenever you find yourself feeling scared of this world and everything in it, remember that you have a powerful God protecting you.

Whether you need protection from sickness and diseases or protection from danger and evil. Whether you need protection for your home, your family, or yourself, God is the only one who can give you the protection you need.

Below are some Bible verses about protection to remind you of God’s promise to keep you safe. So cheer up, don’t be scared, and find comfort in these scriptures.

Psalm 23

Psalm 23 - The Lord is my shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul
He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
In the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Isaiah 41:10-12

Isaiah 41:10-12 - fear not, for I am with you

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

“Behold, all those who were incensed against you
shall be ashamed and disgraced;
They shall be as nothing,
And those who strive with you shall perish.
You shall seek them and not find them

Those who contended with you.
Those who war against you.
Shall be as nothing.
As a nonexistent thing.

Psalm 121

Psalm 121 _my help comes from the Lord

I will lift up my eyes to the hills
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Psalm 59 – The assured judgement of the wicked

Psalm 59 - The assured judgement of the wicked

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;
Defend me from those who rise up against me.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,
And save me from bloodthirsty men.
For look, they lie in wait for my life;
The mighty gather against me,
Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O Lord.

They run and prepare themselves through no fault of mine.
Awake to help me, and behold!
You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to punish all the nations;
Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors.

At evening they return,
They growl like a dog,
And go all around the city.
Indeed, they belch with their mouth;
Swords are in their lips;
For they say, “Who hears?”
But You, O Lord, shall laugh at them;
You shall have all the nations in derision.

 I will wait for You, O You his Strength;
For God is my defense.
My God of mercy shall come to meet me;
God shall let me see my desire on my enemies.
Do not slay them, lest my people forget;
Scatter them by Your power,
And bring them down,
O Lord our shield.

For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips,
Let them even be taken in their pride,
And for the cursing and lying which they speak.
Consume them in wrath, consume them,
That they may not be;
And let them know that God rules in Jacob
To the ends of the earth.

And at evening they return,
They growl like a dog,
And go all around the city.
They wander up and down for food,
And howl if they are not satisfied.

But I will sing of Your power;
Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning;
For You have been my defense
And refuge in the day of my trouble.
To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises;
For God is my defense,
My God of mercy.

Psalm 91 – Safety of abiding in the presence of God

Psalm 91 - Safety of abiding in the presence of God

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;

For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands, they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

“Because he has set his love upon Me,
therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life, I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Ephesians 6:10-18 – The whole armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18 - The whole armor of God

Finally, my brethren,
be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Put on the whole armor of God,
that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth,
having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Prayer for God’s Protection

Dear God,

Thank You for the life you’ve given me
And into Your hands do I commit my life.
You are my protector, Oh Lord.
Guide and protect me in all my doings.
You are my refuge, please shield me under your wings
And deliver me from trouble.

As I step out of the house today,
Be with me and within me
Walk beside me, before me, and behind me.
Please give me strength and courage when things go wrong
And help me to find comfort in you,
Knowing that You, Lord are in control
Thank you for keeping me safe in Jesus name
Amen.
